Singh, in the plea recorded on March 25, sought a CBI probe against Deshmukh just who, he claimed, had expected cops, including suspended cop Sachin Waze, to extort Rs 100 crore from taverns and restaurants. Deshmukh has denied any wrongdoing.
a workbench of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice G S Kulkarni on Monday stated it was an “extraordinary” and “unprecedented” situation that warranted an unbiased inquiry. In its 52-page judgement, the bench stated Singh’s allegations against Deshmukh had put on the line the citizen’s trust within the state authorities.
The courtroom said “these types of allegations, made by a providing officer, from the state house minister couldn’t be remaining unattended, and had been needed to be probed into, if prima facie, they made an instance of a cognisable offense”.
The judge said a probe by an unbiased company ended up being necessary in our instance, to “instill general public confidence and protect the basic Rights for the citizens”.
A six-time member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, Patil is offering as minister of excise and labor division within the Uddhav Thackeray cabinet. But his portfolio has been assigned to Rural Development Minister Hassan Mushrif while Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar will appear after the Excise division.
Formerly, Patil headed the Ministry of Finance and thinking, Energy Ministry, Higher and Specialized knowledge Ministry, and Medical knowledge Ministry, all as a Cabinet Minister from 1999 to 2009. He’s known to be a close connect of party president Sharad Pawar. Patil had started their governmental job as a PA to Pawar.
