NEW DELHI: Children listed below five years are excused from both pre- and post-arrival testing for Covid-19 in India, say the revised guidelines for worldwide arrivals launched on Thursday. However, if found symptomatic for coronavirus infections on arrival or during house quarantine period, they will undergo screening and be treated according to laid-down procedure, the guidelines said.
This standard operating treatment will be legitimate from November 12 (00.00 hours IST) till further orders, the health ministry stated. The ministry stated the guidelines for worldwide arrivals in India have actually been reviewed in view of increasing vaccination coverage across the globe and the changing nature of the pandemic.
The revised standards also state that 15 days should have expired since the completion of the Covid vaccination schedule for travellers.
According to the existing standards, if tourists are totally immunized and originating from a nation with which India has mutual arrangements for shared approval of World Health Organization-approved Covid vaccines, they will be allowed to leave the airport and need not go through home quarantine. They shall self-monitor their health for 2 week post arrival. If partially or not vaccinated, visitors require to carry out steps, that includes submission of sample for post-arrival Covid-19 test at the point of arrival, after which they will be permitted to leave the airport, home quarantine for seven days, re-test on the 8th day of arrival in India and, if negative, further self-monitor their health for the next seven days.
