Journalist Fahad Shah wanted in 3 cases for glorifying terrorism: Police: SRINAGAR: A day after arrest of reporter Fahad Shah, a regional court remanded him to authorities custody for ten days on Saturday.

Meanwhile, police stated that the editor-in-chief of online news magazine ‘The Kashmir Walla’ was “desired in 3 cases for glorifying terrorism and spreading fake news”.


Sources said that the defence attorney also obtained the grounds of detention and the court asked the authorities to provide the same in 2 days following which the defence attorney will obtain bail.


“Fahad Shah is wanted in 3 cases for glorifying (terrorism), spreading fake news & & inciting basic public for creating L&O (order) situations,” cops stated in a tweet.


The police statement comes in the middle of tweets by Peoples Democratic Celebration chief and former CM Mehbooba Mufti and chairman of Individuals Conference Sajad Lone.


“Defending the truth is deemed anti-national. Revealing the mirror to a deeply intolerant & authoritarian federal government is likewise anti-national.

 

Fahad’s journalistic work promotes itself & illustrates the ground reality unpalatable to GOI. How lots of Fahads will you apprehend?” Mehbooba stated in a tweet right after Fahad’s arrest by the state police.

 

Sajad Lone, former minister in the erstwhile alliance federal government, tweeted: “Fahad Shah arrested. What times we are living in? Just a word care for the administration.”

 


On Friday, the cops signed up a case for publishing anti-national material on social media and apprehended Shah.


The authorities said it learnt that some Facebook users and websites have actually been publishing anti-national content consisting of photographs, videos and posts with criminal intention to produce fear among public and the material so published can provoke the public to disturb law and order.
