“I was approached by a man who introduced himself as an IAS officer and said he was running an unique drive for transgenders & & specially-abled persons and requested for my existence,” Mimi Chakraborty said.

“I took Covishield vaccine at the camp to encourage people for taking jabs. However I never ever got a confirmation message from CoWIN. I lodged a problem with Kolkata Authorities and the implicated was apprehended. He was using a car with a blue beacon and phony sticker,” the TMC MP added.

On the other hand, as the vaccination drive is underway in the nation, rural areas administered 63.68 per cent of the total vaccinations performed on Monday, the first day when the revised vaccination guidelines entered force.

Out of the total vaccine dosages administered on the day, 56.09 lakh vaccines were provided from rural vaccination centres, while the city areas recorded vaccination of 31.9 lakh people.

VK Paul, Member (Health), NITI Aayog, in a declaration released on Wednesday, notified that specific focus has actually been given on rural protection of vaccination.

“The rural coverage is extreme and in a great proportion. The vaccination numbers from Monday (June 21, 2021) were practically in proportion to the rural-urban population division in the nation. It shows that it is possible to take the vaccination drive to the rural and remote locations.”

Paul further informed that 71 per cent of the vaccination centres remain in rural locations. He also stated no problems were seen in the CoWIN platform while administering such a big variety of vaccine dosages (88.09 lakh) on Monday.

“An overall of 92 percent vaccine doses were administered from federal government centres on June 21, 2021,” he said.
