WhatsApp, NSDC launch Digital Skill Champions Programme


New Delhi: The National Skill Advancement Corporation (NSDC) and WhatsApp on Thursday launched its Digital Ability Champions Program that aims to train Indian youth on digital abilities to make them work ready.

The partnership recognizes two broad locations of cooperation – WhatsApp Digital Skills Academy, and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra (PMKK) and WhatsApp Company App Training sessions.

Through this program, school and university students would be coached to imbibe digital and online abilities that would culminate with WhatsApp and NSDC granting ‘Digital Ability Champions’ accreditation.

The course is based on a module-format, is extensive and intensive in imparting knowledge about important elements of the online environment, equipping students with technology-based learning on schools across tier III and IV towns and cities in the country.

WhatsApp India Director (Public Law) Shivanth Thukral said the business wishes to be a “reputable digital ally” to take different services like education and monetary services to the last mile.

Thukral stated through this partnership, WhatsApp is dedicated to enhance the digital abilities of the aiming business owners and empower the youth of our nation to create a safe digital environment for all.

As part of WhatsApp Digital Abilities Academy, youth from tier III and IV cities will be trained on important aspects of digital safety and online personal privacy. The initiative will start with a pilot throughout 50 campuses in 5 states – Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

The programme will be imparted through WhatsApp’s task application partner, InfiSpark.

Under PMKK and WhatsApp Business App Training, WhatsApp will carry out training sessions to acquaint Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra fitness instructors with the WhatsApp Company app.

India has about 15 million month-to-month users of its service app in India, and more than 50 million users worldwide.
